I was going to walk through the steps on how to change SPD2010’s color scheme, but then I realized that the color change affects all Office products on your machine. I wanted just SharePoint Designer to look rugged and mean in black! Oh well, here it is anyways in case you want to make the switch.
The default color scheme for SharePoint Designer 2010 is set to silver as pictured below:
To change it, all you have to do is click on File > Options and then use the dropdown to select either blue or black (pictured below):
As noted earlier, this switched the color scheme on other Office products:
