Not much to say here, but just more so a warning to you SharePoint admins out there. When you uninstall Office Web Apps it removes the server from the farm (at least for me it did). Just something to keep in mind and plan for when/if needing to perform this action. I didn’t realize this and removed my server from the farm…the only SharePoint server in the farm…that was painful.

How did you recover?

I actually still wanted Office Web Apps. So, I reinstalled it and ran the config wizard to add the server back to the farm, using the wizard to point to the config DB and recreate the Central Admin site. I’m still going through and making sure all of the service apps still work okay. The website (portal and mysites) work, but looks like I may have to reconfigure search…but that beats the whole environment being down.

I just did the same thing. I don’t want web apps back though. How do you run the config wizard because I cannot even get into the central admin wizard.

Hi, did u fix it? I had the same problem, i was migrating our SharePoint Database from SQL Server Express to SQL Enterprise Edition, and needed to re-install farm, and Office Web apps. The farm has been installed perfectly but when i tried to reinstall Office Web Apps, it didn’t work.
Thanks for your help.

Re-run the Products Config Wizard and “Connect to Existing Farm” to add the server back to the SharePoint Farm. Start > Microsoft SharePoint 2010 Products > SharePoint 2010 Products Configuration Wizard. Make sure you are running this as the Farm/Setup Account.

Hi, thanks for the reply. I have set up the new farm perfectly. But my problem is not with the farm, but with re-installing Office Web Apps. Because i have uninstalled it before.

What errors are you getting? You should just be able to install the Office Web Apps executable again and then rerun the Products Config Wizard…again, do this all while logged on as the Farm Account (dbcreator / securityadmin account)
